At Limelight, we aim to use sustainable material sourced ethically, in order to play our part in saving our planet.
As we began to grow in recent years, we brought onboard several large well known UK retailers. Whilst price was always an important factor to their customers, we recognised that brand reputation was most important of all.
One of our customers recommended that we rise to meet the challenge of providing their clients with ethically sourced products.
During 2021 we wanted to partner with a supplier that had a SMETA ethical trade audit accreditation and was committed to maintaining their status.
From 2022 we are partnering with suppliers that are committed to ensuring labour standards along with health and safetyis at the forefront of their processes.
We started to do the training for SMETA audit from 2019 and improve ourselves. We received the audit results in 2020.
During the Audit, we learned to:
In the years since, our factory has developed rapidly and obtain high-quality orders. We can see that SMETA helped our factory to increase our responsibility and sustainable business partnerships.
Also, we obtained some good partners after getting SMETA certified and we are fully committed to do the SMETA audit again in 2022 to give confidence to Limelight Beds customers.
We are now working towards an Ethical Sourcing Roadmap for existing suppliers, a business plan and code of conduct to address our growth ambitions in the most sustainable way.
